A baby in a feed trough was the sign for the shepherds. Isn’t that a pretty strong sign? The All-Powerful One who made everything is sleeping where the sheep and goats ate their grain and hay. That God would love us so much that he would start out in such a bad way shows us why the angels praise him so much. He is glorious, but instead of hiding or guarding that glory, he shared it with us so we could find it too.

Prayer

I join the angels in praising your glorious and holy name, O God of the manger and Ruler of the constellations. I’m in awe of your profound sacrifice. You could have shown Jesus to the shepherds with any sign, but you chose the manger. I appreciate you making yourself known in such a public location so I could find your sign and return to you. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
