God always shows himself to us first, then blesses us, and then he asks us to do something. In other words, God first blesses us and then tells us to do what he says. God is all-knowing and in charge. Because of who he is, he could demand that we obey him, but he doesn’t. He chose to show himself through the Bible, nature, and the things he does to save people. He wants us to know who he is and what he wants. Our obedience might be hard. Sometimes it’s hard for us to understand why we need to obey. But we know it comes from a Father who paid a huge price to save us and has already shown that he is trustworthy.

Prayer

God, you are holy and powerful, and you deserve all glory and honor. I know that all of your demands that I be holy, obey your Word, and try to do what you want are based on your desire to love and bless me. I want to give you my whole heart when I serve you. I want my obedience to you to be given with as much joy and kindness as your blessings have been given to me. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
