I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. — Philippians 3:14

To walk a tightrope, you have to keep your eyes on the goal and never look down or behind you. To walk with Jesus, we have to keep our eyes on the goal, which is his victory waiting for us when he comes back. We can’t look at the ground (our mistakes) or at what’s behind us (our accomplishments). The goal of the Christian life is to keep moving toward Jesus until we get to heaven and can walk with him.

Prayer

Lord, I eagerly anticipate the day when you will address me by name and stroll alongside me. Until then, please assist me in focusing on who I am supposed to be rather than what I have done. I humbly ask in the holy name of Jesus and through your grace. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
