“God-hunger aimed at the wrong source of soul satisfaction” is how addiction has been described. This is what Psalm 63 tells us. We have a deep desire to find God because he is not far away and wants to get to know us (cf. Acts 17). But most of the time, when we need God the most, he is the last place we go to find satisfaction. Let’s really look for him and find what our souls need in him.

Prayer

Holy Father, fill my heart with the desire to be with you and my head with the knowledge that I want to be with you. I have to admit that I have often tried to fill my hunger with things that don’t work. Today, I promise to see that all other sources of happiness are temporary and fake. I promise to seek you and your will through your word and your Spirit until I can rest in your presence and grace. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
