God cares about each of us as people. So much so that he gives us this sign himself. Because Matthew told us what the name Immanuel means, we know that the sign was Jesus coming to live with us as God. God is there when he is there. His life is a sign from God. The miracle of his birth is both a secret about God and a sign of his love for us.

Prayer

Holy and powerful Lord, who refuses to be a god who is far away and detached: I’m glad that you came to live with us in Jesus. I thank you and praise you for what you went through and what you gave up. I know that this sign was very expensive for you, so please let my praise, songs, thoughts, and actions show how much I appreciate you in Jesus’ name. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
