Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. — Proverbs 3:5

I find it easy to call on God and rely on his mercy and grace when things are hard. He’s my save-me-now Savior. But I have to admit that when things are going well and I’m enjoying his blessings, I’m a lot like the Israelites and forget that all the good things in my life and all the chances I’ve had are because of his grace. When things seem to be going well, I need to learn to acknowledge God and not rely on my own wisdom and strength.

Merciful Father, everything good in my life is thanks to you. The family you’ve given me, the protection you’ve given me, the values you’ve taught me, the successes you’ve given me, the hope you’ve given me, the salvation you’ve given me, and the future you’ve given me are all because of your grace, not because of my goodness. Thank you! In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
